The second tier on my layout is controled by the DCS remote control unit. When I change direction the front and rear headlamps will not light up. If I place the locomotive on my main line track powered by a CW 80 when I change direction the lamps light up and work in that direction.

Any ideas or suggestions?

You know, I run TMCC and Friends, with Lionel bricks, so Conventional operation is not really done on my layout, but how many of these threads concerning odd locomotive behavior contain a phrase like: "...track powered by a CW80..."?

It seems like a lot. I read this thread for the MTH 44T angle - and there was "CW80" again. Huh.

A little unfair don't you think considering the original poster stated the 44 tonner worked as it should when he ran it on his main level using the CW80.

Have  I missed something?

Happy railroading,

Don

The DCS-RC will reset new PS/3 locomotives to factory defaults.  The 44-Ton locomotive is new enough to have the latest features, try that for a first step.  See if it behaves after a factory reset.

Turn off power if on
Wait 15 seconds
Turn on power:  the engine should be dark and quiet
Press no other buttons
Press SND
Press DIR
Press "-"  (on the gray rocker in the center of the remote.  Also is the speed down button.)
The engine will give a two honk response and will be sitting on the track running
The engine has now been factory reset, and is ready to run with your DCS Remote Commander system.
