I apologize if this has been asked before. I purchased a used 1038 Handheld controller. Appears to be fine. Will a Landline Telephone cord work for this to connect to a TIU and is there a way to remove the previous owners settings and Engines? Thank you in advance.

Read the instructions..
Mark,
Just a reminder - The cord is a backup if the radio system doesn't work. It's normally not needed.
The cord you need is the standard one that typically goes between the telephone's handset and it's base, not the one from the phone base to the wall.

You need the cord that goes between the telephone receiver (handset) and the phone (the curly one). NOT the one that plugs into the wall.
What Mellow Mike said. Sorry Mike missed the second half of your response.

Thank you.
Make sure you use the 4-wire telephone curly cord and not a 2-wire cord.
No cord needed. Menu, system, remote setup, reset remote.
That'll erase the remote and set it to factory defaults. You need to phone cord to update or backup the remote.

Hi you only need the 4-pin phone cord if you're going to upgrade the software to 6.1 version!

Thanks, I followed @lou1985's instructions. Playing with the remote for a bit. Only thing I couldn't accomplish is a Lashup. When I go to move the Lashup I get "Not on Track" display. I'll have to figure it out. First time using a Remote.
