Atlas and MTH have a back and forth agreement. The tooling is owned by Atlas, but these 2 units are being produced as part of the MTH line. Hence no 2 rail, unless I can convince MTH to start up 2 rail again.
It's too bad Atlas didn't make this announcement because they continue to offer 2-rail and 3-rail Premier models, including ES44's...like MTH used to do. I was interested in getting a few of these heritage locomotives but it looks unlikely since it appears MTH is going to do these one-off locomotives.
While I have absolutely no inside info.....I'm guessing that Atlas will do some of the other CSX heritage locos. Im thinking that if MTH was going to do them all...they would have announced them all now....but i could be wrong. It could be just a parts supply thing.
