I would have purchased a Southern one if they did #1401, the one in the Smithsonian. As far as I know, 1401 has only been done three times in O Scale, Williams made a Brass version, an MTH Protosounds 1 version, and the Lionchief version.

Really nice models regardless and it is good to see some premier steam being made!

If I was marketing this speculated retained entity, I'd step back from MTH purple and go hard with all of the product under the RailKing brand. It's well known and encompasses both scale and traditional offerings. Roll the Premier steam as "RailKing Scale Premier" and I think your off and running.  I have to say the RailKing Scale diesel offerings from MTH are the best value in O Gauge.

I'd 100% agree.  Railking has always been the better brand name.

I'd offer just 2 lines - Traditional and Scale  -  and I'd mark what would have been premier line options as "Precision-Detailed".  Then you don't have to move things down from Premier to just Scale - it's all scale.  Some with "precision-details!"

And now we know what the first Atlas product will be using the newly-acquired MTH tooling...70' Madison Heavyweight passenger cars in road names matching the MTH Pacifics.

Although I'm not in the market for either the Pacifics or the passenger cars, I'm already liking the coordination of efforts.  This has the potential to be a really good thing for Atlas...and for those of us who like Atlas & MTH products!

Just received the artwork from MTH for our two Custom Run Monon Pacifics and I couldn't be more thrilled.

The Monon served both Bloomington, Indiana and West Lafayette, Indiana, and it provided rail transportation to the football games. In 1927, and again in 1928, they painted two of their Pacific's in school colors for the annual Old Oaken Bucket game.
