Hi all,

I am looking at getting one of the newly announced atlas sd70aces and also need to buy my first loop of 2 rail track. I have a loop of 0-72 (36” radius) fastrack that I would like to put atlas o 2-rail sectional track around the outside. 40.5” is the next size up and would provide the gap that I am looking for, but the sd70aces have a listed minimum curve of 42”. Has anybody run one of the MTH 2-rail sd70aces on 40.5”? How did it work out? Do you think I can get away with it?

Thanks for all of your responses!

Yes. They run fine, on Atlas track, at least. They’ll even handle 36” radius Atlas curves, if you decide to replace the Fasttrack. Most of the MTH two-rail diesels do fine on 36” radius track so long as the railhead is flat. The diverging route on no. 5 and curve-replacement turnouts may require shimming the guardrails. But the 36” curve radius itself isn’t an issue.
