A question for those who have installed the MTH Building on fire. How do you contain the water that the manual warns could leak through the bottom of the building over time. My dealer had one demoed a couple of years back, he had it sitting in a tin pan. I want this working on my layout as a part of the scenery not sitting in a tin pan on Main Street. I am looking for your ideas and solutions.

Perhaps cut a hole in the table and have a metal drip pan sitting in the hole, with the pan flanged on top so that it can sit in the hole without falling through...and then sit the building on top of the hole/pan. That's a really cool accessory.

Do you really want water on an electric train layout? Under any circumstances? Maybe imagination is a better option. Just sayin'.
I agree with Eric's idea. Get your self a small bread tin. you may have to trim off the rolled edge to make it sit flush.
Make sure you use distilled water as well to avoid mold buildup.

The amount of water we are discussing is minimal, but does exist. What I have done is have a sheet of plastic under the building that catches any excess water. You can have a slight berm of a white glue bead/ or silicone inside that acts as a dam. Just check it from time to time and wipe with a rag. If you have quite a bit of water, the hose may not be hitting the target as well as it should, but still will have some overspray/leakage.
Then again, it depends on how much you use the "house/building on fire" and is it located near an easy access point.
My house on fire has always worked very well, but does have some overspray.
The motor will rust shut if not used often. I drain the water using the fire hose and refill when ready to use.
