I think the buildings with lights are a real winner. I've got two of the houses and love them.

I also have the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train on order, cars and engine. Cars are here, hope the engine is soon. I will likely run it all year long (will make those miserably hot Washington DC summers feel a little cooler ).

While I personally prefer to keep my Christmas car collection to the religious/traditionally decorated MTH Boxcars, I may pick up one of the flat cars with LED lights and Christmas trees as well.

THanks, I agree. They are very, very nice. I do not set up a Christmas layout anymore (instead, I display my Dept. 56 collection under the tree, lit up).

I originally ordered only one house. Liked it so much I bought a second. Liked them both THAT much that I put them on my permanent layout year 'round with a small Christmas section. May look a little funny to have a corner of Christmas but hey...my house, my layout, my rules.

MTH uses a special light strand, as the ones from Walmart, Michael's, or even Evan Designs have the LEDs one inch apart. MTH's LEDs are about a half inch apart. Makes a big difference on scale cars and buildings. Has anyone wired their buildings to have the interior lights separate from the Christmas lights, so they can turn the Christmas lights on and off individually? I plan on doing this down the road on my layout and I am looking into picking up one of the Arch Bridges with the white lights.

I had a pleasure of seeing these up close at David's this past weekend and csn attest to how good the lighted items look.  I'm hoping to find a good deal on the houses this weekend at the First Frost show in Allentown.  Though I run a tinplate set under the tree I think the lighted houses will look right at home until I get my next layout built.
