Just wondering about the latest run of the Ca-1 caboose having board issues. (getting hot I believe) I know there was an earlier thread about this but I cant find it. Did anyone send one in for repair? Is there a fix that can be done by the consumer? Were all road names affected? What are the bad parts that need replaced? Wish I could find that thread. Maybe one of you guys can find it. Thanks

Thank you Bill. I wonder if anyone has any updated info. I am looking into purchasing one or two but am thinking I would be smarter to walk away.
Have one and hope to get a repair solution soon from MTH, we are going to take it apart again (the guy in the caboose was looking out the back window...) and disconnect the lights.
If you want one get it as you never know if/when it will be re-run.

Cabooses from MTH have had that assembly problem for awhile now. I have two previous ones and the guy was installed looking backwards on both of them!
At our local hobby shop, they put a new MTH UP CA-1 caboose on their test track at 18 volts. After an hour there was no overheating nor smoke out of the inside. When I get mine back from the "weathering shop". I'll test it at 19 volts and see what happens, however I tend to unplug the interior lights when I up-grade the model to Kadeem couplers. All I care about is the lighted marker lights.
I have the latest UP version. http://mthtrains.com/20-91557
It has a low hum when sitting on a powered track. When the train is moving it is so low I can't hear it over the sound of the engine and freight cars. I haven't noticed any overheating problems, but the longest I have run it at one time is 30-45 minutes. It looks great with my RK Imperial big boy.
