Does anyone know if the MTH 2-8-0 H-3 Consolidation will run on Lionel Fastrack 0-36 curves? Anyone ever tried? It states 0-42 on the MTH website...........but?

Not sure if it helps, but the Railking Consolidation from the starter sets manages 36" Fastrack quite easily.

It's a little engine, I can't imagine it won't. My guess is the min is based upon available MTH track and not necessarily a limitation of the engine. If no one else chimes in, I'll put it on a couple of pieces of 036 FasTrack this evening and post some pics.

FWIW, the Lionel Consolidation has issues with O36 curves, one of the blind wheels will frequently short to the center rail. If the MTH model is the same size, it may have the same issue.
According to MTH the minimum curve for it is O-42. I think the limiting factor is the swing of the pilot truck.

A lot has to do with the tender coupling/connection. MTH has a unique linkage that includes the electrical tether to the tender in some models. Possible this electrical/bar tender connection is part of the small radius problem. Also note that some steam locomotives do not back well through tight curves. My relatively small Russian Decapod has the hidden electrical linkage between the tender and locomotives and does well on my O-54 and O-45 layout with a few O-36 curves to sidings.
I'm not sure about the new PS3 version (the tether may be an issue), but my older PS2 version of the H3 consolidation will handle super-o (o-36) curves just fine.
Are we all talking about the 19th Century MTH 2-8-0 H-3 Consolidation? This is the one I need to go around 0-36 curves.
Thanks!
