I just bought a used MTH Z750 brick and Controller - I'm only using it to power on lights & accessories.  I noticed on E Bay many of the controllers have the number designation printed on the top of the controller (i.e. Z500/Z750/Z1000).  The controller I have simply has

"Z Controller" printed on the top.  The back of the controller indicates that it can handle "6 AMP MAX".  Here are my questions:

1.  Do I have an earlier model of the controller since it has no number designation on it?

2.  Is a 6 AMP MAX controller ok to use with a 750 brick?

3.  Since the AMP's vary from one controller to another I assume they are not interchangeable - Correct?

I'd appreciate any input from forum members - thanx - Harleylito

The later controller boxes do not have a designation.  It is designed to work with a Z-750, Z-1000, or a Z-500 brick.  MTH offers the Z-Controller as item 40-1000B (Note: the picture on the MTH website incorrectly shows the brick and not the controller).  It can be used to replace a defective controller, replace the early infrared remote, or even the DCS Remote Commander if you want.
