My friend's son has a MTH Premier crane car. The body of the crane used to lock in place so it would not spin around while being moved. Something happened and now it just spins freely all the time. I'm not familiar with these. Anybody know how to get the crane body locked in place?

Nobody has seen this issue before? I thought there was some type of gear inside that allowed the body to ratchet around but stay locked enough so it rotate during running. Not sure though.
Product Number is?
Would definitely help

There is nothing on the instruction sheet except you turn the crane clockwise.
Maybe something snapped.
The ratchet is probably loose/broken/missing. You'll have to disassemble the crane. I haven't done this but I would expect to see some kind of metal spring and a sprocket with the spring "clicking' in place between the teeth. Check to see if there is a loose piece rattling around inside the crane body. Be careful not to disturb the cranks and thread.
Thanks guys.
This one is a Lehigh Valley version, Model No. 20-98221. I think we may have to take Matt's advice and open her up.
I have the same car and same problem. Unfortunately, the part went missing when it broke. I had talked to MTH parts people at York and likewise, they said no replacement. I hope you come up with an alternate solution.
Thank you guys.
This looks like either a 3D printing opportunity or resin casting opportunity.
