Picked mine up on Christmas Eve. Very very easy to connect and use.  I have an android Samsung Note 4 and a newer version TIU so the USB connection was as easy as it gets. After upgrading the TIU and DCS remote to 5.0, again super easy to do, I connected the WiFi system and opened the app. I like the ease and quickness of controlling the screens and trains. When adding engines to the App, I had several DCS 2.0 and 3.0 engines on the track all at once and it found them all and allowed me to add each individually.  Control was super easy and accurate.  I'm sure there will be a few bugs, but it will be nice and easy to update and fix. Plus you can still use your existing remote should you need to. And at this point I need to as the Wifi App upgrade version does not have the Lash-up feature yet. As I was told, 2016 for the Premium addition with added features like switches, accessories, Lash-ups, etc. All in all pretty happy with it.  I can only see it getting better.

The future of Model Railroading is here! 20151226_171714 [1)

Have fun,

Marc

Marc's O Scale Trains on You Tube

Hi Marc - I have been watching your You Tube Channel for years. Look forward to seeing a detailed demo on the MTH - DCS - WiFi, on your YT Channel. I will leave a comment so you know I saw it, if I miss it, please send me an e-mail. We are both You Tube creators and I feel it is the best way to learn new model train operating procedures.

Good to hear guys.  When we beta testers first got ours last Sept, I was more than pleased on the easy operation.   This app is very user friendly.  In the morning I have Locolawyer visiting.  I am going to put the system in his hands with no instruction and see how fast he runs with it.  Erol is extremely familiar with a DCS remote.  He should knock this out of the park.

Good to hear Marc.  I got mine the Sunday before Christmas when I saw it in my local train store.  I had my system already on version 5.0, so I had it set up in a few minutes.   I was able to add engines quickly.

I have couple of observations:

1) I was not sure how I would like the speedometer taking up the main screen.  After using it, I really like the this feature.  You can press move the needle to a speed, or just hit the speed e.g. 40 and it moves to that speed.  This is a neat feature.

2) My son was used pressing the break button twice to stop the engine on the DCS remote but keep the direction.  He was unable to do that on the DCS app, but if he just hits 0 on the speedometer, it does the same thing.

3) Adding engines was easier than expected.   Just a quick read or add and they are on the app.

4)  I like the passenger freight effect.  It starts pops up with a screen to arm it, and it shows you which step it is in.  Nice to see that.

Thanks Gary.  I'm really excited about the wifi as I feel it will take us to the next level.

I can already see a new TIU with built in wifi, packaged without a remote. Remote sold separately. Possibly package the new system with an iPad or Android based tablet with the MTH logo on the cover. So many options, so many possibilities. I really hope it grabs the attention of the younger crowd and new comers as well.

Enjoy!

Great to hear!

I'd love to see a momentum feature added. I really like setting it to a top speed and watching it slowly crawl or slowly decrease to that setting. The Legacy system had this.  I didn't think id be this excited about it, but as I think about it more and more the possibilities are endless.
