For those that have used the MTH bridge:  https://mthtrains.com/40-1109 , how much straight track is needed to avoid having long loco front ends, such as on a Challenger or Big Boy not hit the sides as it enters.  I am dealing with a space needing 72 inch curves that is 11 feet wide, the curves take up more than 6 feet of that allowing for 4-5 inches spacing from the walls, leaving less than 5 feet to fit the bridge in.  If I use the approaches: https://mthtrains.com/40-1108  that reduces the remaining space to zero, meaning the end of the curve would be right at the start of the bridge with the max overhang of the loco at that point.

Coming off an 072 curve the Bigboy needs about 8” to clear the end of the 1108 bridge.  The walkway of the locomotive clears the bridge pier but overhangs the bridge catwalk.  It may not be pretty but it will work.

I have this bridge.  I use Fastrack with an 084 outside curve and 072 inside.  In order to get the 4” (center to center) bridge spacing, you will need to bring your inside track closer than you might like.  In my case 6” is reduced to 4”.  Even on 072, the Bigboy overhang will hit anything on the outside 084 track, so the Bigboy is restricted from my inner loop.
