Has anyone installed an MTH E.O.T. truck to an MTH autorack car or other MTH cars with long shank couplers?

You might consider just picking up the FRED piece and rolling your own, it'll be more flexible.
Thanks John, my thinking is to use the existing truck but with the longer shank coupler. I was just wondering if anyone went that route already.

This may be a partial answer to your question although I have not made your requested modification. I run KD's on my operating cars and do not want to lose the function of a rear operating coupler. Even if I did not use KD's, I would make this modification and return a operating coupler to the MTH truck. It's a pretty easy modification. This will work on any car that you can adapt a MTH EOT truck too. The MTH EOT truck is made in such a way that the feeder wires runs thru a channel in the coupler shank. The coupler itself is non-operating. What I do is use a Dremel tool with an abrasive cut-off disc and open up the channel in the coupler shank where the wires are captured in. Be careful not to damage the wires themselves. Once this is done, remove the coupler and dismount the EOT fixture from it. You are now free to place the light fixture onto the rear surface of the car you wish to put it on. You can then mount your desired operating coupler back onto the EOT truck or as in my case. add a KD. The only thing you might have to do is add some length of wire to get the lighting fixture to the back of your cars. If you need to do this, you might as well just snip the wires and remove the light fixture from the truck. Mount your long length coupler, splice some longer leads onto the wires and affix the light. That would save the grinding.
