Another thread was started earlier today by another member which includes a link to a video by MTH on their version of this engine.
The video was pretty impressive. Looks like it's going to be a nice set.
I'm still going to continue to lobby Overland and or Midwestern to do them; including the dyno car.

Overland has indicated they may do some EVOS in the appropiate NS Heritage paint jobs, although they have not posted any order forms for O scale yet and depending on reservations and there minimum runs for particular paint jobs. Both the EMDs and GEs are being used by NS for these paint jobs some 18 in all I believe. If they do them I am sure they will do all the current schemes on there reservation list to guage interest.
yeap, here's the page directly with the video. I was just wondering how they did overall. I'm not that well schooled in diesels yet. I think I'll get one. I already have the CSX and BNSF versions of GEs from MTH and think they're great. I know the lights are gimmicky to some. I was wondering how most felt because the real one has them?
There are so many models like the AC4400 and other older ones that I'd like to get my hands on. I have to focus in on something relevant. I have 3 blue EMD Demo schemed units. I wanted to focus mainly on modern CSX based equipment. I read the AC6000 were tested by CSX? Who tested these? I'm not sure how all the units get painted when sent out. I usually grab all different roads for diversity.

What is the function of those lights. Is it a marketing thing for GE or do they serve some real purpose?
I believe the lights show when the system is charging. I believe when the brakes are applied, the system puts the energy back to the batteries? I'll have to read it again. I look forward to this stuff put into our cars soon!

It looks pretty cool. At this point I could only justify putting it on the railroad to push the track cleaning train around.

More of a marketing thing. The direction of the chase lights was to indicate when the batteries were charginge or when the batteries were feeding the traction motors.
If the hybrid locomotive were to ever go into production, the chase lights would probably not be included, it would be just something else to maintain serving no real purpose other than being "cool."
I have a selectable display in my Escape Hybrid that does something similar, showing the charging/discharging of the system. I hardly ever select it, I find monitoring my MPG far more useful information.

Anyone know what would be inside that engineering car?

Probably system monitoring equipment, plus a handful of engineers and technicians. There are probably some seats for non-functional, useless individuals trying to look important -- you know, middle managers.
Despite being super late, I think MTH is doing a great job with this one. It looks like they upgraded the ES44 body for this one (the side grab bars are less conspicuous under the engine's walkway), they introduced the safety lights on the side of the trucks and this should be the first ES44 with scale MU hoses. Not to mention PS3. The LAB car is not very prototypical but not a deal breaker for me. The charging lights should be a lot of fun for night runs!

watching videos for this loco.
I like this #6002 demo's scheme too:
