I have a original MTH QSI proto sound 1 scale GG1. The engine looks like it was never run.I replaced the original battery with a BCR, lubed it as necessary and put it on the track. It powered right up with all engine sounds and crew talk. The engine runs great in both forward and reverse and the bell sounds work,  however the horn does not.Is there a programming sequence to reprogram the horn ? I do not have the original manual for this engine. Can programming be done with a MTH Z1000 transformer ?

If you go to the MTH website and enter the SKU number, it will bring up a place that tells you how to reprogram the loco. Basically, it involves putting the loco on the track, powering it up, and raise and lower the throttle eighteen times, then have the throttle about 1/3 of the way up, and push the bell button. It should give a garbled bell sound, then a clear bell sound. Turn the throttle off, and on, it should start and go forward, and everything should work as designed.
