Hi all,
Very quick question. I'm looking at an MTH 20-20016-1 GP-35. On the MTH site, they listed this engine as needing O-42 curves or greater. However, the total length of the unit is less than 15" and it has two-axle trucks.
I'm wondering if anyone has experience running these through 022 switches, and if it is possible to do? I can't believe it needs such big radius being so small.

It might work but the truck edges could stick way out and hit the switch housings. Might depend on where the truck pivot points are on engine frame.
I think you’ll be ok...I’ve run my MTH GP38-2 through 31” and 36” diameter with little to no issue. I know it’s not the same loco, but at least similar.

If so, yours looks to be even a bit longer than this one. But I'm sure overall length is only one factor..
Yes...very similar. NY&A model from 2012...virtually the same loco as the one you linked. Just different paint. I'll test it again on some O-31 tomorrow and report back.
