Got my GS-4 with the LED Lignts on it and my first impressions are this is really nice and MTH did a great job of building it and trying to package this with care.

The engine is packed it a sold box which is a nice feature. 6 screws and the wood box slides up and off exposing the engine.

Unfortunately MTH made a huge mistake because the two screws on each side go into the base that holds the engine. In my case, the base was is ruined because the base could not withstand a the weight of the engine during shipping causing the engine to bounce around. See the pictures. The result is the ringlets that hold the LED lighting broke off and the LED string is not connected to the body of the engine. Very disappointed with the way it arrived. Rather than attempt to fix this I am going to send it back to the dealer for replacement.

Ugh, not happy about that.

I too received my GS-4 with LED’s with the base destroyed and half of the LED’s would no light up.

Fortunately I bought mine from Ye Olde Train Shoppe in Boyertown, PA and before I could even fully explain the condition it arrived in they had a replacement on its way.

Unfortunately the second one arrived with some of the LED’s detached but would light up and run perfectly. Instead of putting my local shoppe on the spot for it I opted for them to order me replacement ringlets and I will repair myself (hopefully). Will update this post once I have them.

As far as the shoppe’s customer service it’s top notch.

Chris is the man when it comes to O gauge.

Here are some pics of the first GS-4.
