Even with the mistakes I have ordered 3 of the MTH heritage engines with a couple of dummy's included.

my reason for buying the MTH units is that the dummy's will have the prototypes cab numbers, Lionel's will not.

Very few will be able to buy all 21 heritage units so for me the correct cab numbers are important On the the non-powered units.

I have seen the MTH southern engine and it is very nice. Looking at it I never noticed the nose door was on the wrong side until I compared it to a picture of the real thing.

The engine is correct for a earlier phase but not for the heritage units. All in all I still like them and have ordered 4.

You're right John, I got mixed up. I thought the 8025 Mon unit was in that original NS order with the door on the conductor's side.  NS8000 through 8023 have the door on conductor's side, but starting with the 8024, it's on the engineer's side.

It's still a nice model, and I suppose I won't cancel my order from the nice shop-keeper where I ordered it!

I plan to mate mine with some other plain black NS AC unit in the future.
