Surely SOMEONE bought one...?

I have one, but it's the PS/2 with the tether, 30-1484-1.  My tether works like a champ, never a problem.

I'm looking for a photo of the tether arrangement on the new PS3 version. 

I kinda' figured that.  I guess you're the only one here that bought one.  They are a nice little locomotive.  I installed a red MARS light in the top headlight, looks really cool.

Actually I have not bought one but have been quite tempted by a certain "cyber monday" sale.... I saw one at my LHS the other day but didn't look at it very closely but did notice that the drawbar has been was changed a bit. 

I haven't seen the PS/3 one yet.

        I picked up the 30-1599-1 FEF with PS3 from the 2013 catalog, but I am waiting until Christmas to run it.

I am interested in hearing other member's opinions of them too.

Yes, MTH did redesign the tether on this engine to avoid interfering with the trailing truck.  I decided to work part time at a hobby shop this holiday season, like I don't have enough to do, and we have one of these engines.  I will snap a pic tonight and post it.

I have one from last year but it is packed up with the rest of the layout from the move.

No Pictures but I can say I have had no issues with mine. Others have had problems.

Suspected reason: Mine was assembled once and stays on the track, Drawbar is not disconnected and reconnected for moving it. also I have larger radius curves, It never hit anything smaller than O-48.

SJC, I have one. I recently did a post on it, but no one replied though. All I can say is that if you are cosidering one you should get one. I have the two-toned grey with yellow stripe and absolutely love it. The only concern is the low-voiced sounds for the proto effects, other than that it is awesome I'll post some pictures below.

Subway Lover, are you running yours on O-31 Realtrax?  I am downsizing my layout significantly and can't decide if I want to use O-36 or O-48 Fastrack.  Would you be able to post a picture of it from above on a curve?

I'd stick with the largest curves you have room for.  I made that mistake.

Sure, I can do that. As a matter of fact I am starting my new layout after moving from NC to NY. I recently used O-31 realtrax and it looks really good on the curves. Wheather, you decide to use O-31 Realtrax, O-36 Fastrack, or O-42 track it would look good either way. Just don't use O-27 track, the overhang is terrible. Pictures posted below of my once small layout in NC.

You're welcome. I wanted to see how the overhang was too. I'm considering a 2-level with O54 on the bottom and O31 on top just to fit more in my 12x13 space.

Thank you!  The overhang on the O-31 curves isn't overly dramatic, so I'm sure I'll no problem with my O-36 fastrack.  Mine should be here early next week, so I'll post some photos once it is here.

Love this locomotive.  The Imperial line of Railking locomotives continues to impress me.  I was worried that the tender would be a little undersized, but boy was I wrong.  It almost appears to be too big for the locomotive.  

Details are nice, and the sounds are great.  My only gripe is that there is no DCS/DCC switch on the bottom of the tender.  There is a slot for it, but it is empty.  I'll never use it in DCC mode, but it would be nice if it were there.  Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the purchase.
