Why does MTH say to only use the IR Remote with Z500 or 750? I'd like to run a bump and go trolley and use the aux output to power switches. As long as I'm not using the extra power, why does the controller care it is there?
I'd speculate that they're worried about stuff like derailments causing excessive current through the IR Remote and cooking the electronics. Clearly, if you didn't draw more than 75 watts, it would work, but can you be certain you'll never have a derailment or other short?
