My lenses used to fall out all the time…a few drops of super-glue solved that.

 

Hopefully you can find an LED replacement off-the-shelf.  

 

If not, this is tedious, but here’s one way to roll your own using 4 LEDs from 12V LED strips as used for passenger car lighting,  The LEDs mount on a piece of 0.1” grid project board. The bulb wire was 0.01” diameter so #30 solid wire threads through and bend around the press-fit holder.

At 18V, the original lock-on draws about 1 Watt - the LED version about 1/8 Watt.  While brightness is proportional to track-voltage for both, at lower voltages the LED brightness holds up better.

Answer:  the lower one is LED.
