I've seen MTH's new South Shore MU set (30-20176-1, 30-20176-3) in the catalog and on their website, and have a couple of questions for those with more knowledge.

1) Are these an accurate representation?  To me, they look kind of like generic interurbans with a CSS&SB decal on the side.

2) Are the colors right?  They look a bit too yellow to me.

3) Has anyone seen a prototype (nothing at York in Oct.)?

Here is the link to MTH's site:  http://www.mthtrains.com/content/30-20176-1

Good morning Mallard,  You are correct in that this model is very generic. The door windows are incorrect, and as for paint, car #17 may be close but so is 101.  It's a draw as far as paint go's.  Real equipment age in time, so the colors could fit (or be overlooked) it's up to you.  As Rusty has pointed out, it's hard to trust the art work colors.  I can recall a CTA alpine white that came out more or less tan then white in the past.  Bruce

Am I just being obtuse but when I read the excerpt from the catalog. There was a picture of an alleged South Shore train. but then all the text had to do with MP54s and electrification around Philadelphia. The South Shore line never got east of Indiana.MTHs writers don't seem to know their RSs from a hole in the ground. At least write somthing that makes sense.

It's important to remember the "South Shore" MU's are part of the RailKing line, which means, it's faithfulness to the prototype varies (Even as an MP54, which are also cataloged on the same page...)

There is no reason to expect 100% fidelity in the RailKing line.

Like catalog artwork, catalog text should be taken as a guide, not gospel.
