MTH operating reefer crates | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Hi all -

I have a several MTH operating reefer cars that have the simulated dry ice smoke that push out a small rectangular crate upon activation. Does anyone know of any suitable substitutes ? A few of the reefers are short 1 crate.

Did MTH make different versions of the crate? I have some that say Fresh Fruit (not California Fruit) and don't have what looks like white bottles of milk (?) as in your photo. Instead there is just a metal plate presumably to give it weight to slide down the unloading ramp. Dimensions as shown. I weighed it at 3.4 grams. I suppose you could cram in additional lead weight if it needs to be heavier.

How many do you need? If you think you can make these work, I have some extras you can have for the shipping cost. It's more than 1/4" thick so has to go USPS First Class package which would be $4-5 depending on your zip.

@stan2004, yes they did. Besides the (california) fresh fruit crates, I have milk, beer and dry ice crates shown in the pic below.

I'll take you up on the offer. My profile has my contact info.

I would like a full compliment for my cars, so i can eject 3 at a stop without having to re-'prime' the car.
