I was wondering if anyone could help me understand this?

my new MTH R F and P Berkshire says it comes with freight yard sounds and it also says it has passenger sounds but so far I've only been able to get the freight yard effects to work. And it makes me wonder if this locomotive has the passenger announcements. When I looked at the specs on the MTH website it says it has passenger effect but the way it shows this In the description is "Dcc, passenger sound affects." So how do I get the passenger effects to work on this PS3 locomotive? I guess the rf and p was a freight train in real life but I really wanted this locomotive because when I originally saw it I was under the impression it had passenger sound effects. Any help is appreciated. I am using the MTH remote with TIU.

Typically, MTH DCS engines (PS2 and PS3) have one and only one of the following: Freight Yard Sounds, Passenger Station Sounds or Transit Station Announcements. I've never encountered any PS2 or PS3 engine that has more than one of these.

Since you didn't include your engine's MTH item numb and the only RF&P Berkshires I found on their site are #20-3292-1 and #30-1436, I can only assume that one of these PS2 engines is the one to which you're referring.

If so, the site clearly states "Proto-Sound 2.0 With The Digital Command System Featuring: Freight Yard Proto-Effects" for both of these engines.

Where does it state that it also has Passenger Station Sounds?

Barry,

I understand his confusion.  He said he had a PS3 Berkshire and 30-1631-1 is a PS3 RF&P.

On the features tab, 4 bullets below where it says...

Proto-Sound 3.0 With The Digital Command System Featuring: Freight Yard Proto-Effects

It then says...

Passenger Station/Freight Yard Sounds

I know the 1st feature is truly what it has, but I can understand how some would confuse this.

Shoot, being the first MTH engine I've ever purchased, it just looked like it came with both because of the way it's worded. Thank you for clearing this up for me! I think they should change the verbage to match what comes with it tho, but it sounds like I can get it taken care of to do what I want. Either way, we are enjoying the berk. My 3 year old likes to say "all aboard!" Thru the mic

Mike
