Since this is a Protosounds loco, the smoke unit has all the electronics on the board on top of the smoke unit. It converts AC track power to DC for the motor, plus regulates the amount of voltage to the smoke motor. Very likely one of the electronic doodads on the board decided to give up the ghost. If you take the shell off, you can see if anything has popped open. You can also unplug the motor from the board, and test the motor with a 9 volt battery to see if it runs. Don't leave the motor on the battery long, just enough to make sure themotor runs. Keep us posted.

Gerry,  Yes everything is replaceable.  The heating element, motor, even the transitors on the board, plus the batting and gasket.

If you are not comfortable doing this sending the smoke unit to an ASC tech and he can fix you up.  I have all the parts necessary if you need help.  E-mails in the profile.  G
