Noticed that according to their website, MTH has cancelled the Premier Dreyfus Hudson (cover, 2014 O gauge volume 1).  This may be old news but I was unaware.

Disappointing: I had pre-ordered one.  Does anyone know if it was due to lack of demand or because of production problems.

Since I do not do pre-orders this is a question that's simply idle curiosity on a rainy day

Say in the past two years, how many products have been cancelled after being in a catalog? Did the manufacturers ever say that a product may or may not be produced in writing? I get the impression that this sort of thing kind of slipped under the radar and the policy was discovered when products were cancelled. Is this right?

Lee, thank you very much for posting this. I also pre-ordered one. According to the above picture it appears as though I have escaped the guillotine for now. I ordered the 22-3522-2 1940 Scale Wheeled version with  Boxpok wheels. Cab#5449. I guess it was a popular choice relatively speaking.

From my experience, a very small percentage.....

Lee, I'm glad you will be able to order another scale wheel version and hope it doesn't get cancelled.

Steve, I agree with this statement. Very few if any of my pre-orders have been cancelled. With Lionel's BTO system, you are in or you are out.

Since re-entering the hobby, I have had only one pre-order cancelled by the manufacturer.  It was the Lionel Monon F3s from 2008.  That one hurt...I really wanted them...still do.  The smoke fluid loader accessory is still up in the air.

Lol. We are going to have an announcement very soon about a special run of Monon F-3's. Please stay tuned.

I verified yesterday with MTH that 2 of the announced versions of the Dreyfus in 2 rail didn't get enough preorders to be produced. IMHO, the rest are safe. This is about the time when they finalize their counts to make a Sept. Delivery.

It would be great for some type of feedback from the other big manufacturers here. I see that 3rd Rail does this and maybe some others thru representatives?

I would always like to know what type of numbers (MTH and Lionel) they need to move forward? I'm not sure if we rounded up a couple of orders if that would change anything anyways?

I still want that MTH 2 rail CR U-boat!!!

I have a feeling Lionel watches what is discussed with their products here from their past responses. I wonder if MTH does this too?

I can assure you they do. I surmise they need orders at around a hundred.

2 rail is a different matter. They are frequently canceled. I grew so frustrated with getting models canceled that I changed scales.
