I really like this new engine! Cab chatter, freight yard effects, smoke unit are all terrific! The only disappointment I had was the lack of ditch lighting.

I know in it's heyday they weren't required, but having had them on all my previous modern locos has spoiled me rotten!

Does anyone know if I could add them myself if parts are available? Unfortunately I'd have to have the PS3 reprogrammed to activate them! I've looked at Dallee electronics so far and contacted MTH about it. I'll let everyone know what MTH says.

I'll have to keep it in warranty until I do it. Oh, the pain!

Modernly, you may not need to worry about flashing the ditch lights -- just turning them on/off. On a lot of locomotives, particularly freight, the ditch lights stay lit when the horn/bell is in operation. Out here, right now it looks like Metrolink (commuter) and Amtrak (passenger/commuter) are the only ones flashing the ditch lights. UP and BNSF don't flash them any more.

A lot of earlier diesels were retrofitted with ditch lights -- often on both ends. I've even seen a GP9 with them.
