not good news when it involves a customer,

ASC Tech MTH

If you’re an ASC, then you should know what’s going on with MTH,….the old MTH parts dept. was not up to date with their own stock pile of parts!…..that filled up a warehouse!!…….it’s being organized into a more useful, user friendly environment…..it’s gonna take time to undo what took 30+ years took to compile,….it’s like trying to find a needle ,….in a haystack of needles,…😉

how about posting up a pic of the locomotive that needs this part?…..and point to the part that’s missing?…..

I have this same loco and discovered this situation some years ago.

What you have is the screw shown earlier and the female bushing it goes into, locked together to act like one piece.

The reason it has no threads is because it is the female bushing part that is pressed into the drive wheel. MTH used blue thread locker on the screw threads that was stronger than the press fit of the bushing into the wheel. If you heat the screw with a soldering iron and hold the female in a pair of vice grips, you should be able to remove the screw. You can press the female back into the wheel and apply some super glue to the outside. But make sure the super glue does not get into the screw threads.

When you put the screw back in, use clear fingernail polish on the threads. You will be able to remove the screw later, but the nail polish is weak enough to not pull the female back out of the wheel.

sorry for the delay been dealing with health issues. This is the engine in question 20-3018-1  the shoulder screw i AM REFERING TO IS MISSING FOR HTE FRONT DRIVE WHEEL.

Lou is correct, you’re missing the crank pin,……MTH will not sell you a crank pin. That’s a press fit component that’s part of the entire drive block assembly. I have parts chassis in stock and I can harvest a crank pin from one. Most Premier use the same pin, in different lengths. You may contact me via profile for more details….
