Hello everybody ,

I am trying out my new laid track on my first layout and I am having an issue with a MTH PS2 Premier gg1 stopping on a Lionel post war tubular switch. Is there anything I can do wiring wise to precluded from stopping when it enters the switch? I am using Lionel post-war tubular track on the entire layout.

Thanks, Jerry

Jerry, the first thing is make sure that your track and the locomotive wheels and pickup rollers are clean.  If that doesn't do it, next is to identify whether it is the locomotive or the switch.  Do all of your locomotives stall on this switch?  If they all stall use a volt/ohm meter (VOM), or a bulb with a couple wires, to see where there is no power.  You may have to open the switch to correct it.

The GG1 rollers are spaced far enough apart that they are not usually a problem.  If you have a VOM, set it to ohms and touch a lead to the roller of one truck and the other lead to the roller on the other truck.  You should get zero, or close to it, since the wires connect together inside.  This would tell you if a wire were loose.

If this doesn't do it, we'll have to dig deeper.  Good luck.

sometimes on the older switches there is a gap from center rail to center rail threw the curve switch you have to check maybe the roller pickup is falling in the gap of the center rail so the engine looses center rail contact, in some cases ogrforum  members have added a pick up roller on tender or where you can so you don't loose the center rail pickup contact , I would check that out first! ok good luck and keep us informed as to what you find out ok
