Ok, having only O27 and O31 trains I designed a nice fastrack layout with two main loops using O48 curves. I do have a turnaround track that's O36 as well as crossovers from each loop, a yard and a 'industry' area all build using O36 switches/curves. Now I've fallen in love and ordered the MTH N&W 1776 SD45 loco with hi-rail wheels (20-20292-1). It requires O42 track, so it'll be fine on the two main loops. My question is about the O36 switches.

I called MTH about the O36 switches and they said maybe to likely but their official answer is no as they don't have an O36 track and wouldn't have tested on O36. Now I'm fretting about replacing the crossover switching between the two tracks with O48 and it's just not in the budget right now - but I'm obsessing over it...

There is no way to make the O36 turnaround loop any larger so that's out if the loco can't run on O36 track but I would like to use the crossovers between the two loops. I have figured out that I can replace one switch in my yard if need be and get an O48 section so that's something more to do than loop run...

Anyone know the answer?

Thanks,
