Possibility for a special run of MTH Premier FH H24-66 trainmasters.  It costs me 16K to do a special run.  so need to know if there is any interest.

Here's the possibilities..Wabash, SP (bloody nose), EL, CP, PRR, N&W.      I'd like to do Wabash and SP,  but its a lot of money to put out in no one wants them.   2 road numbers of each would be available.  I need to sell 30 psa total for it to be a go.

PLS LMK,

Thanks....beth

So what if it was a fantasy scheme! It’s one of the best looking diesel locomotives Lionel ever made!
I have the original Premiere Proto sounds version, which is now Railking.
I need a big pretty detailed version with command and see through vents and no stupid blind dummy wheel on the trucks.
certainly there are at least 25 guys who feel the same way

I would be in for 2 Virginian in 2-rail.

I would also like a 2 rail version with the full length handrails and fixed pilots. I am not sure what road yet but I think the CNJ green with gold stripes would be my number 1 choice. Since the MTH break up they have yet to do a scale wheeled engine so I don't have much hope for the 2R side of it.

I would like to see in CNJ Deep Sea green with imitation gold stripes.

This was the only paint scheme used on the CNJ  FM H24-66 Train Masters.  The blue and tangerene jobs were a fantasy scheme started by Lionel in the Post War years

OK, the CNJ had two versions of Trainmasters, 2401- 2407 with the space between the radiator fan screens on the side

cnj2407s David Nyce photo

and 2408 - 2413 with no spacing between the radiator fan screens on the side.

so what do they show for the MTH  Premier models? The version with no side screens at all.

20-21646-120-21647-1

And give their history with CNJ models in the past they'll produce it just as shown.

Hi all,

Beth just told me that these are going to be 3-rail.  So, 2-railers like me are out of luck.

Ed

Can't say I am surprised. The last time MTH did the CNJ green and gold version it was the only version not to also be offered with a scale wheels (2 rail) version so I didn't order it. Later on I came across a super deal for a Reading version with the scale wheels. The price was so good I could not pass it up. The only negative was it has PS 2.0.

Fellow 2 railers, despair not.  I was one of the (apparently) inadequate numberof people who ordered the CNJ first time around in 2 rail, but was rebuked by MTH,

You have two options

1)  Buy a 2 rail Train Master. (They appear on eBay every so often.)  Try to buy a roadname that is not in this latest run.  Buy this new offering in CNJ.  Swap the shells, but keep the handrails from the 2 rail model.  Paint the handrails, pilot, and pilot spacer the right colors (TrueColor makes the right Sea Foam Green).  Then sell the CNJ Chassis with the original 2 rail roadname shell on.   It will sell easily, as its got PS 3, and is not in this latest run.  This is the path I am taking.

2)   Every MTH product I have seen that originally had the PS 2-3 switchable trucks has them even in susequent offerings in 3 rail only.  I don't know for sure about these, but its unlikely MTH (or whoever is making them now) will have invested in new tooling.  So you can simply  swap the 3 rail wheelsets for 2 rail wheels.  Add your own pickups, connect one side to chassis ground, the other to the center roller post.  The pickups may even be there. Fabricate a new pilot spacer.  Its a simple piece of 1/8" Styrene. Paint the edge the color of the pilot. Then redo the handrails so they go down the steps. That last part is the only one that is challenging. But its doable.

@GGG can fix that!

he’s done wonders for me!

thanks!

Hi All,

I believe that Beth said that she needed 30 reservations for the project to be a GO.

How many 2-rail engine reservations are out there?  This is not a binding survey but if we can muster close to 30 2-rail reservations, perhaps she can convince the "powers that be" to do a run in 2-rail.

I am in for 2 Virginians in 2-rail but only 2-rail.

Who else wants one or two or more in 2-rail?  Here's your chance to get what you want.

Thanks,

Ed

Ed, I will commit to buying one in CNJ if the 2 rail version gets produced.

@CentralFan1976 Thanks for information Mario. I do want to upgrade it at some point but not really a pressing need right now.
