One of several mini projects that I had cluttering up my workbench was this caboose that I had attempted to 'fix' a not-so-great weathering job on. This gave me the opportunity to burn up another precious decal set and to try out another PRR paint mix suggested by this site:

I went for the half special oxide red and half zinc chromate primer mix, two colors that are now gone with the death of Polly Scale. For some reason I didn't paint the cupola thinking it was supposed to be all black but a quick internet search now tells me I will be fixing it tomorrow night. Aw well, here's some quick shots anyway.

I have yet to dust it with a bit of grimy black, not sure I will...

Wow, this is a blast from the past! Ralph, thanks for the kind words. I probably gave it a light black wash using tube acrylics, then airbrushed Model Masters Grimy Black. The Polly and MM colors are now long gone. I just found that Vallejo Model Air Black Grey is a good replacement. I've also recently tried Tamiya German Grey. Still hoarding a few bottles of MM Grimy Black but I'm not as fearful of running out now that I've found some viable substitutes.
