MTH PS2 5V Street Car - Not Starting Up

that engine has the ps 2 5 volt boards and they either fail dead or shorted in either case the boards can't be repaired!  i could put a relay in it if you don't care about sounds. ps 3/2 board can be installed and made to work again but would be $150.00 to 200.00 depending how much work the tech would be required to make yours trolley car work again!

hw much do you want to spend on repairs!

@Alan Mancus I appreciate the response, but I'm just going to return it at this point as investing additional money is not really worth it to me.

When I buy anything with a 5V board, I set my price assuming that I'll have to replace the board.  I'm rarely wrong in regard to the 5V board.

Have had some luck replacing the battery with another 9 volt in good condition, powering the trolley up with just enough voltage to get it to light up, letting it sit for about five minutes to let the computer reset and trying the direction button on the transformer to get it moving.

Thanks all for the tips and info. If I could the lights or sound to come on I would feel a bit better and spend more time on it, but it's just dead as door nail.
