Are you running with DCS? If not do a conventional reset (the directions will be in your product manual).

Can you give us a bit more information?
1) Does this happen in both Conventional mode and under DCS?
2) Has all sound stopped (whistle, bell, loco sounds)?
3) If you are runing under DCS, have yor tried a feature reset, or factory reset?

I run in convental only.It is MTH RAILKING PS2 MOHAWK steam locomotive. All sound has stoped. That why I said earlyer.I hope its not the board that messed up.I have another mohawk ps2 it works just fine.
Might as well face it guys. The ps2 board is shot thats the only thing it can be.I will have to get another ps2 board. And after I tryed to be careful and not to have this happen.
Do you have a local hobby shop/ train store near you? It may just need a DCS reset if all other functions are working......
Where are you in NC?

Do you have and are you running with DCS with your remote? If so press on the menu button and then engage the sound menu. Scroll down to the engine sounds volume and see how high the sound is set. Set it at 100 percent. Then do the same thing to the accent volume; If they were at 0 sound level you should have your engine sounds back.. Try this before condemning the board.
If you're not using The DCS system then just do the conventional reset. That should restore your engine and accent sounds.
I have shorted out boards.
I have also been lucky and have them come back from what should have killed them. They don't like direct shorts. I have had where signal problems, bad tethers, and crushed wires all killed them just temporarily.
If the board is in the engine and the speaker's in the tender, sometimes just a bad solder joint on the tether is all that's wrong.

I have little choochoo in spencer nc.65 miles one way for me.Then theres chucks trains in landis nc.But I am not sure they do repairs thou.
If you can't get it to the Little Choo Choo Shop or have someone that can help you in the Charlotte area.I have to drive through there within the next couple of weeks (to and from Greenville SC) I can bring a DCS system by and we could reprogram it.

Once I had a similar problem where I had lights smoke and all other functions except no sounds after a derail. I found out that the sound somehow got turned down to zero, according to my remote, and I just turned the sound back up and all is well now. Eh, go figure, modern electronics can be funny, sometimes, not all the time is it a bad board.

THAt would be very nice of you.But I work nutty hours 12 hour shefs 2 days on 2 days off.Three days on three days off.Engineer-Joe said it might be a bad tether.I,ll have to admit I have not thought of that.I will keep you in mind.We might be able to work something out.

I think your on to something there.I gonna try to get to little choochoo in spencer.Could be a losse wire.
What model #? Does this use a 8.4V battery or the 2.4 double AA style?
Based on that we can go from there. I can test and repair circuit boards and since it is running the audio amp should be a successful repair if it isn't something simple like bad speaker.
You don't need DCS to reset the sound if it got confused. Use your conventional transformer and do the 1W and 5B sequence in rapid succession. The manual tells you how. G
I don,t get any sound at all.I did notice that when trying blow the whistle or ring the bell. The little fan in the smoke unit seems speed up.I will send you a email tomorrow.I will also take the shell of the tender so I can tell what kind of battery it as.Right now I am going to bed.Christmas shoping has worn me out.
Just look at the bottom of the tender, does it have a square or round charging plug?
