Having some issues with this.

I uploaded the a new soundset from the most recent Premier version to my MTH Railking PRR Torpedo K4 with PS3. The new sound file did not have any chuffing and the whistle was very "choppy", meaning it had no beginning or end if that makes sense. I re uploaded the original sound file in (I should note, without pulling the new sound file out of the engine) and now it sounds fine except now I have no lights at all. I have performed both a feature and factory reset on the DCS remote but still nothing. I am very new to this stuff and still figuring it out. Please help!

Thanks in advance.

You don't need to pull the old sound file out because in a nut shell you're just overwriting the memory cache with a new file so it's not needed and will not affect anything. A few things you should do when uploading new sound files (I have done several of them with great results). Make sure the engine you're uploading to is the only powered unit on the track. I remove anything that draws power, even lighted cars, basically anything with pickup rollers on it. Place the engine in a spot that's pretty close or on top of one of your feeds. I would try uploading the original sound file or the new one again using the tips I noted and when the upload is complete you should unplug the the USB from the TIU or PC and power cycle your track power to reset the engine.

  1. the sound file in all ps engines also control the lighting effect confined to each engine so when u install a different sound file you can loose your lighting n other functions !. by the way always recommend to save your engine file on your computer and create a folder to save the engine file with your engine item number so you can easily find it if you want to reinstall it because you don't like the new one or lost features because you put the wrong sound file!!! for instance if you installed a diesel sound file in a steam  engine you would loose the chuff sound and the sound file also control the engine speed to some extent and lighting feature can be lost!.  always save engine file before you try a different engine file then you got something to go back too! also when you download your new engine file it overwrites the previous sound fie in your engine!

I did save the original file and re uploaded back in. That's when the lights quit working.

For PS/3, you must load the sound file and the matching chain files.  If you get the original files for your RK K4 and load both the sound and chain files, you should come back to sanity.

I have the original sound file. What is a chain file? How do I access and install it? The product number is 30-1719-1.

When you download a PS/3 sound file, it arrives as a ZIP file.  If you unpack it, you'll get two files, the .MTH sound file and another .ZIP file.  The ZIP file inside is the chain files, you point the loader at that ZIP file using the icon on the toolbar of the loader.  Once the chain files load, power down everything, locomotive and TIU, for around 30 seconds, then fire it up again.  If you have changed the content of the chain file, you'll get some Morris code beeps, hopefully the success code.

Load the sound fine the same way you always do.
