Was running my RailKing Camelback tonight and it stopped on its own. Now it will only run in reverse? Sounds work. I run conventional mode. Tomorrow I will try the factory reset. Any other suggestions? Thanks

Factory reset can only be done using DCS. Feature reset can be done in conventional. 1 whistle press, followed by 5 bell presses, approx. 1/2 second apart. 2 whistles (or horns) confirms reset occurred.
It is a protosound 1 engine so factory reset to make sure not locked in direction by mistake. When you cycle direction does it have 2 neutrals or no neutral always moving in reverse? You could have a bottom board issue if no locked in reverse. G
Two neutrals. It was running around the loop and just stopped. I'm running conventional with a ZW. I also have a Z4000 I'm using for other tracks.
Sounds like a hardware failure. Bad diode on forward drive, forward relay, or transistor control. Can be repaired. G
Thanks. Electronic parts should last a long time. Another engine down. You fixed the Hillcrest shay for me a couple of years ago. I have the Penn S2 that runs erratic, runs stops runs - someone stated could be a dirty flywheel tape or a bad gap on the tach reader. I guess I'll wait for them all to fail and then drive them to you. No more MTH engines for us... As you can tell, lots of frustration...
I read a post from 2013 where you were helping GunrunnerJohn wrt PS/1 Locomotive only runs in reverse. Are all 3 components on the bottom board (Bad diode on forward drive, forward relay, or transistor control). If so, is that something I could replace?
Yes you should be able to swap in the bottom board, but need to watch insulator on regulator and wiring. Depends on your skill level. G
