I don't have a crystal ball, but if I had to put money on it, I would say that MTH would reserve that feature for their higher end 'Premier' models.
Never say never but if they do, it will be a LONG time I bet. MTH has had the quilable whistle for at least 5 years or so and that hasn't hit the Railking line so I doubt that or the smoking whistle is anywhere close. There is an aftermarket third party kit you can use.
Also consider this - MTH introduced the smoking whistle and ringing/swinging bell at the October 2007(?) York. It took them until October 2014 to catalog something with it and it has yet to be delivered. The swinging bell has yet to be seen. If it takes that long to do a smoking whistle, don't expect much else anytime soon.
They would be crazy not to! I think the smoking whistle is on of the best features on a Legacy model. Instead of a swinging bell I would rather see a major improvement in sound. Nothing against MTH. I mostly own MTH engines but Lionel is beating them up in the sound department.
If there is a swinging bell kit, I'll most likely buy both.
I doubt you will ever see it in RailKing, but I believe it was announced as a feature for the new Premier Big Boy later this year. I would imagine MTH will do as Lionel with this feature and keep it limited to their top of the line Premier steamers, but who knows?
I believe it was JDS Limited that was doing conversions if you want to check and see. I think they also have some youtube videos. Was thinking it only worked in conventional though, but don't remember for sure? I am pretty sure it has been discussed here before.
