Anyone have this engine? It is the PS3 2-8-0, #33-1040-1, Long Island Sunrise Special.
What are the station stops in the PFAs?

I have that LIRR 2-8-0 which is a fantasy locomotive. The real Sunrise Special locomotive was G5s 4-6-0 No. 21. The LIRR's 2-8-0 H Class locomotives were freight haulers. MTH would have better served its LIRR customers if the 2-8-0's tender just had LONG ISLAND in the Pennsy's Railroad Roman lettering style.
What can I do for you?
Going east, it departs New York and goes to Jamaica, East Hampton and Bridgehampton.
Great engine just picked one up at nassau hobby and if you havent gotten one yet they are on sale extra 15% off and free shipping
Thanks all. I am considering ordering one from Nassau. Potomac, MD is home but have spent every summer but one in Southampton, NY and have ridden the LIRR many times in coach, loco cabs, "new" trains (which aren't so new these days!) and the old trains.

Thanks Bobby, I ordered 1 because you mentioned the station stops.
I have later a PRR version with PS2. It has a plastic tender and not a lot of detail, but its a good runner and a good value.

I had one of those PRR versions - came in a RTR set. Nice engine for the price. Ran like clockwork for years. Something caused the drive wheel quartering to get out of whack and was never really "right" after repairs and eventually the motor blew up and I sold it as a parts engine.
Certainly not an Imperial engine but I love that Sunrise Special herald on the tender. Saw a couple at York a thought long and hard but didn't do it until now. A friend of mine also has the PRR RTR 2-8-0 with PS2, his first O gauge set since his childhood Postwar trains and loves it and dare I say runs it more than his Premier steamers!
Got my Sunrise Special today....
Pulled the box out of the shipping box....
....hear something rattling around
..."uh-oh"......
Totally dead. No life. Will call Nassau in the morning. What a bummer!
I bought my LIRR Sunrise Special 2-8-0 from Nassau Hobby and it is a good runner. This 2-8-0 has been MTH's base steamer for many years. Several of these 2-8-0s with PS 2 and PS3 roam my railroad.
My plan is to detail these 2-8-0s as H10 Class locomotives mimicking the LIRR's Nos. 111, 112, 114 & 117.
Tender of G5s No. 21
Tender of the Rail King 2-8-0.

Steamers weren't allowed in Penn Station. A DD1 would pull it out to Jamaica then tranfer the steamer.
