Are they the same size, differing only in details?

No way. The RK version is significantly shorter. Both are well detailed, the Premier being better of course. Sounds are the same or very, very close.
I have two of the premier Genesis, They where not on my list to buy. After I got the first one I immediately bought another and now that I had two running for about six weeks, I'm looking for a third. Very pleased with these they are a big heavy diesel as long as the premier SD45 tunnel motors. Mine are 2/3 rail version PS3

I have only watched them running - don't own. When together, the RF is noticeably smaller, but alone it looks like a really good model. The RK is shorter - the Genesis is a big, long loco and a scale one doesn't like or look good on tight curves. I think the RK is made a bit lower and smaller overall to compensate for the shorter length and keep the proportions similar. The sound was the same to me - both are good.
Thanks, folks.
I recently acquired a set of Willams Superliner cars and am looking for motive power. Likely will go with a Williams or WBB Genesis loco, but was looking also at MTH offerings. In any case the electronic innards will give way to TMCC.
I've owned both RailKing and Premier Genesis diesels and there is no comparison in my opinion. I now have 3 Phase V and 2 Phase IV Genesis engines and I love'em. They're so ugly they're cute.
The Premier engines look and run OK on my 048 FasTrack curves but would like even better on larger radius ones.
If I were you I'd compare the cost of the Premier Genesis models to the WBB versions taking into account the cost to add DCS, TMCC or Legacy to the WBB models. I doubt you'd save any money going with the WBB's.
I agree with Clem either way you'll love running those Genesis engines!
