IMG_2521So I purchased an MTH rectifier at a ridiculously low price, from an Ebay seller recently.  I knew, when I made the purchase, that the loco did not run according to the seller.  I'll post some photos of my progress as it occurs.

The end pilot step assemblies were warped.  One of them I was able to straighten, the other is broken.  I sent an inquiry to MTH for the parts.  How are they about sending spare parts out.  Paid for of course.

Not sure why two of the same picture got posted.

MTH will want the model number of the engine, and picture of the pilot , with step paint scheme.   What is a rectifier, I would think several different types, so you need to be specific.  They do carry pilots, but may not have exact one, and therefore you might have to paint, like yellow stripes on steps.  G

I have removed the existing circuitry from the locomotive.  I am wiring in an AC-DC converter to take care of the power requirement for the DC motors.  I would like to get a hold of a Williams by Bachmann reverse unit or perhaps a Dallee electronic E-Unit.  If anyone has one they would like to part with please send me an email.

One question, however, is this.  Would the new E-unit/Reverse unit get wired into the circuit on the supply side of the AC-DC converter or on the "Out" DC side ?
