I will be picking up mine in a few hours and will post pictures later tonight.

Let us know if it has Passenger or Freight sounds. I've been debating getting one. Long Island isn't my regular RR to buy, but I've spent every summer of my life on LI in the Hamptons and riding the LIRR, cab rides as well. Always loved the orange and gray paint job.
It's was slated to match their heavyweight passenger cars.
It was not common for RS-1's to pull them due to a lower HP rating.
Not certain if they used my supplied soundogs MP3's and verbal scripts due to copyright laws.
Let us know which crew sounds it contains and what wound up in the S keys as well.
I added freight related sounds to the SOFT keys also.
Jason will be sending mine out too I guess.
Just ran it for a bit. It looks great and sounds pretty good too.
It has freight PFA. I will play with the soft keys a little later on.
The sounds on this one are incredible! Brad's Trains posted a video of the Southern model on You Tube. It sounds like it's about to drop a cylinder!
Portland Rose.....Do you have a front marker light out on that RS-1. I had a marker light out on my New Haven RS-1. That was the start of my problems. Things got worse from there. Next thing I know I needed a new 80.00 proto 2 board. I have 12 RS-1's and think they are Premier features for a railking price. Smoke and marker lights added the last few runs. Best bang for the buck from MTH in my opinion.
Steve,
All the soft keys play the regular sounding stuff...nothing unique To LIRR.
It does have lighted number boards. I think those were left off in the past.
The engine sounds are really good as stated above by Portland Rose.
The add-on detail is really worthy of a purple box.
One other note...the box is made of much thinner cardboard and is not as glossy as it was in the past. Also, the foam is much softer too. I guess they are trying to cut cost where they can.
Jini5,
Not my RS-1 - that video was made during a trip to a hobby shop. I believe the layout pictured is a hobby shop display. But it does appear the front marker is out on the fireman's side!
Here are some pics:
I think the horn sounds more like a subway than an early diesel. I may change the sound set at some point.
Other than that, it really is a very nice loco.

that looks great how about a video like hear it sound
My neighbors would not like that on my carpet central. It sounds awesome.
Here's a video:
Thanks Ron.
I cant make everything out do to the audio quality but it sounds like it will do.
Diesel sound is like the S-2 AlCo’s with a bit more added.
The soft (S) keys on the remote will have a bit more. Did they remove that silly staged train wreck (STW) option?
Wonder which (SSD) staged shut down sound was installed?
My LIRR VO-1000 has a dog barking as the crew says “she ran like a Baldwin”
But actually those LIRR's didn't use radios, they used telephones mounted on poles along the line. Also never had a porthole caboose with that number at that time either. Oh well.
Should get mine soon. It will be a regular on the layout. Video’s soon.
For comparison, here's a recent video of my newly acquired, from the forum, older railking ps2 rs1, circa 2005 I believe.
Train wreck sounds are still there.
you can also hear the faint whine of a turbocharger.
Wasn't the LIRR version RS-1 supposed to have passenger sounds? I picked up a string of passenger cars based on that information. My engine is supposed to be shipped to me in the coming days.

I called MTH about the sound set this morning. She checked into it and told me that they were all being shipped with freight yard sounds, but there is/will be(?) a passenger sound set that is downloadable. I think she said it was Oyster Bay to Greenport (although I may be wrong about the Greenport station).

Thanks for the update Roger.
Another update.......I contacted MTH again today. I noticed that after my phone call to them yesterday, they activated the sound file on the webpage for the RS-1. My call was to determine which file it is (freight or passenger). It turns out that the file is for freight sounds, but I was told how to find the other. Go to Service on the website and hit the Files and Documents tab. Then type in 30-20080-1 in the search bar. Two sound files will appear. On the left is the freight sound file......next to it is an icon labelled Upgrade. That one will have the passenger soundset. I was also concerned that some of the other sounds might be different (such as the very cool engine startup of the Alco). I was told that everything else is the same except for the passenger dialog. I'm hoping to have the files swapped on Friday.
