New to O gauge and wonder what is meant by Salesman Sample. Are there any concerns about the operation of these sample engines? What are the pro and cons?

Also I see many ads on ebay for unpainted passenger cars, and listed as TEST PAINT. What are these? Any reason to stay away from these? What are the pros and cons?

Thank you

RAY

sir-before mth has a train or anything made -they place a order with their maker-the maker make a proto type model of the train or item ordered to show what the finished item will look like-a lot of times the sample modl will need some tweeking before final order is placed for maker to sell.

when I lived in fort Lauderdale I went to ready to roll in maimi.during thefall and winter months mike wolf would visit ready to roll and display maker samples of engines that were in producon.what was funny the samples were never painted-bare diecast metal with brass metal detailing.
