Looks like you will be stuck with the fixed pilots. I don't see a way to undo that. Therefore this loco will only be able to navigate wide radius curves.

Can you find all the screws for the truck side frames? (8 total)
Can you find all the screws for the fuel tank?

I know all those long screws attach the shell to the frame.
With fixed pilots, you will have to figure out a way to attach the couplers to the frame. Or use kadee couplers.
To make it into a dummy all you have to do is remove the motors.
There is a single screw at the bottom of each truck. Remove that screw, separate the truck, then remove the screws that hold the motor.

You have a Dash 8 Protosound 1(?) or electronic horn diesel from 1993.  The MTH item number is: 20-2008.  Here is the link to the MTH site: http://mthtrains.com/content/20-2008-0  It came with 4 or 6 wheel trucks but the picture shown does not have fixed pilots.  I have an exploded parts diagram for a Dash 9 with 6 wheel trucks I could scan and send to you. It might help a little.  It is from a MTH published Premier Parts Catalog First Edition 1999.

Ya that might help ill check it out   my email is in my profile  Thanks

It looks like the front and rear trucks have been reversed.  The reassembly looks fairly straight foward.  If you have somthing similar use it as a reference where things are mounted.  If you mount the couplers to the chasis you will still be able to activate the couplers.  You will have to figure out a way to install some type of centering spring.
Ihope this helps.
