MTH SD40 PS3 horn is dissapointing, maybe a download?

Unfortunately, PS2 files can't be downloaded on PS3 chips. You'll need to find a PS3 file on the MTH website that will fit your desires. Sorry to say PS2 and 3 do not mix.

I believe the new CSX SD40-2's had a Nathan K5LA horn which sounds very nice and is accurate for a W&LE SD40-2.

You can install a 3V PS2 file in a PS3 locomotive, but not the other way (unless MTH has changed something along the way). PS3 has enough memory to hold the PS2 files, but a PS2 board doesnt have enough to hold a PS3 file.  I've noticed that within a run of locomotives, there are often 2 different files. If you look at the file names when you download them, compare the files from all the roadnames in a run, maybe another road name has a more acceptable horn.

Is there a way to listen to various horn sounds on the MTH website?

I asked the repair tech at stockyard express, who is very good at what he does, the same question. His reply was no......  some of, but not all of the newer engines can be heard on the mth product locater page...jim

The horn in my PS3 KCS SD40-2 is a little on the weak side. My PS3 BNSF SD70Ace has the same loud, crisp horn as the PS3 CNW C40-9s I have. MTH has the engine sounds right on, but the horn sounds leave a lot to be desired when you compare them to the real thing.
