MTH SHELL CHANGE OUT | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have been looking at two different MTH items which I would like to change out. One is a GP7/9 with PS2 and the other is a SD9 with PS1. Can anyone assist me and advising me that the two shells are interchangeable. I do note that one has 4 wheel truck while the other has a 6 wheel truck. Thanks for your response.

Offhand I'd guess probably not, but actual MTH stock numbers would help us help you.

Both are Premier

20-2111-1 w/PS1 Early CB&Q paint

20-2336-1 w/PS2 Later red/gray paint

Both show a length of 14 3/4"

Those actually look close enough that the shells might interchange. The only way to know for sure is to actually look at the units first-hand.
