Any info on where I can find, or someone willing to part with, the MTH solid rocket transport set either 20-20013-1 or 20-90166?  I was hoping to get one on Ebay for my birthday this week, and lost it at the last second (darn bad cell coverage! ha).  I have been looking for over a year, and that was the first set I have seen.

Any information would be appreciated!

It is supposed to be the Solid Rocket Booster from the Space Shuttle.  This train was intending to model the train that brought these rockets (in pieces) from the Denver Utah area (I don't know the exact facility) to the Cape in FL.

the Thiokol Corp, Brigham City, Utah built the shuttle solid rocket boosters.

the Titan (ICBM) rocket was about 50% smaller than a single SRB.

Just so you guys know, I found a set yesterday and was told by the individual that it would be up on E-bay in the next day or two.  No locomotive, just the cars...  I wanted the set but the seller knows it is hard to find and I am assuming he hopes to get a big price for it.  Since I run my trains and am not a collector, I pass up the folks that have to have collector prices.

Alan

I bought the set when it came out and have never run it. It is so long that the cars sit on one shelf and the engine and passenger car sits on another.

I bought to go along with the set of NASA cars and engine I have, but it really doesn't match the NASA set at all. In fact, the rocket has ZERO insignias on it. So it looks like some sort of NSA/Military secret rocket and not a NASA one.

The "SOUTHERN" nameplate on the pass cars came off on both sides. bad glue job.

Forrest - Great video.  And the nice thing about this train hobby is you can make fun of stuff; some get it and some do not.  I got the 'staged lunar walk' right away.  I also enjoyed the rocket launch being a street over from the movie theatre!  :-)

David - where was the UP derailment?  I guess I am not up to speed on how the real train decided to roll over?

It is a neat looking set.   MTH has it on their layout at their HQ in Columbia, MD.  They run it covered, although I can't recall if they also include the tank car.  But, it is a nice set and finding one would be a gem.

Thanks.
