A friend of mine asked me to custom paint and decal his MTH Mikado into a Soo Line 1003. It took me a lot longer then I had hopped but here it is. The MTH model is not an exact model of the real 1003, but it is close enough for the both of us.

Very cool! I've ridden behind the 1003. Makes me want one.
Great job! I once bid on a Lionel mike that had been painted to the same scheme, but yours looks nicer. (I didn't win).
Nice job.
Great work, that really looks good.

I wish MTH would make some Soo Line steam. That has been soooooooooooooooo neglected.
Your friend should be pleased. Looks great!
MTH or Lionel, or 3rd Rail - I'd love to have a Soo Line Pacific or Mike.
The Atlas O Train Man passenger cars are just like the passenger equipment the Soo Line operated. Have your friend get a set that is Undecorated so that you can paint those to run with the Mikado.

You fans of Soo Steam might enjoy this superb 2-rail O-scale Soo layout. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NHvZ5877WE
Fantastic layout! The houses built by his wife are show winners. It looks like he modelled the Soo in the Great Plains. Thanks for sharing.
