I was going through the new MTH catalog (2012 Vol 2). I noticed on page 123 that the entire section on MTH Realtrax trestles (graduated, elevated and subway) are being offered for Lionel Fastrack!!!

I looked through the 2012 Vol 1 MTH catalog (as well as the 2011 catalog) and MTH Realtrax trestle systems were not included in those editions as being available for Lionel Fastrack.

Is this the first time that MTH is making its trestle systems available for Lionel Fastrack?

I do not like Lionel's Fastrack trestles at all. I have always liked the look of the MTH trestles. If they are indeed being manufactured to fit Lionel Fastrack, this would be an excellent option.

I just bought a a set of MTH Realtrax trestles for Fastrack but won't have time to play with them for awhile.  They were very hard to source on the internet and my LHS happened to have a beat up box of them on the shelf at a fair price when I was picking up a small order of Fastrack.  It was buy now, or keep looking for a long time situation.

Has anyone tried these out, yet? Some info on the box:

Real Trax graduated trestle system features multiple sized pier sections, Fastrack or Tubular Track slides in place, durable ABS construction, rises 6-1/2 inches high, creates a 4.7% grade, and has a simple, snap together assembly.

The trestle set has been out for about a year.  But the only way we (LHS) learned of it was through the monthly phone call from their sales department alerting us to deadlines and non-catalogued releases.

As said in a thread several months ago, the RK trestle set for FasTrack has some advantages.

It has two additional pier pieces.

It is about $15+ cheaper (MSRP) than the Lionel version.

It has a 'beefier' appearance which intuitively looks better when supporting a large steam engine's crossing.

It's been a good seller when showing the customer the comparisons.  Of course, it's biggest 'downer' is that it doesn't come in an orange/blue box with the brand "Lionel" on it.  I guess that's worth $15+ more to some folks.

Have a Happy, Blessed Easter, all!
