I'm still in shock as I write this so please bear with me. I went to the MTH website to order traction tires and smoke unit parts. I knew the shipping would be steep but I almost swallowed my tongue when I saw $115.08 for FedEx Ground! Everything together has to be under a pound. Am I the only one? How do they sell any parts at all?

Where are you shipping the parts to? $115 for shipping almost sounds like your shipping outside of CONUS.
I would call them on Monday as ask. That certainly does seem high. Maybe there is a glitch in the calculation program?
I put in an order over week ago and I thought the 14 bucks they charged for a 6 dollar part was high. Guess I have nothing to complain about
I’m assuming it’s due to the algorithm of the website with that many items.
This has been discussed before, it's a problem with the website. The shipping is not cheap, but it's not that expensive!
Shipping to Harvest, AL, just outside of Huntsville.
I would call and ask to have it shipped priority mail as it is one price per size of box. AND it is only about 10% of your cost.
This is unfortunate. For reasons like this, and other parts availability and website issues, it seems that one is almost always required to get on the phone, and wait on hold to get some kind of mess resolved every time parts are required. Lionel isn’t perfect either, but I seem to be able to go on their website at any time day or night, order what is required and move on.
It is a nuisance even if you have the time to deal with this stuff on an occasional basis
If you are like me, work all day, and spend your nights and weekends fixing trains for a train store, it is unbearable spending weekday lunch breaks chasing down parts or dealing with problems like this.
The website is wrong. You have to call the order in and Midge will adjust the shipping. For me, MTH has been great to deal with, but the website sucks.
